Going Shopping

Sometimes it can be difficult to figure out where to get started on a project. ((Photo courtesy of polycart)) Once you’ve read through the build instructions, you’re going to need to get your hands on some parts.  I’ve provided a “shopping list” of sorts below: ((No kickbacks, just a happy customer from each of these suppliers))

  • 1x Adafruit Motor Shield v2 ($20)
• Scavenge or Buy
  • 2x NEMA-17 stepper motors ($14/each)
  • 1x A to B USB cable  ($4)
  • 1x 9V power adapter ($7)
• Optional Parts
  • 1x Micro servo motor ($6)
  • 2.1mm in-line barrel jack power switch ($2.50)
  • 19″ servo extension cable ($2.50)
  • 10-wire rainbow ribbon cable, 15′ ($5)
• Best All-In-One-Kit
  • If you want to just buy all the parts for a drawing robot in one place, you definitely want one of Sandy Noble’s Polargraph kits.
